ANTIQUE RARE FOLK WHIRLIGIG SOLDIER w GUN CIVIL WAR Weathervane HEAVY Primitive

For sale is an amazing early weathervane.  I am unsure the exact era, but my best guess would be late 1800s or VERY early 1900s (some that I saw it assumed maybe earlier) You can just tell as it is riveted and not even welded but brazed instead!  The rust between the panels is deep.... This piece is definitely an original old piece - the PAINT however I am unsure on when exactly it was done, if it had been added years after or not but either way the paint has a lot of age on it too....I believe this vane was supposed to represent a civil war soldier... Regardless the piece itself is over 100 years old.... What a fantastic silhouette weathervane - especially containing such historic content!!!!  This piece is a true folk piece of americana that is absolutely historic and impossible to find these old beauties...It deserves a good home.... One thing to note is that the paint on one side is more faded than the other - this is because it had been mounted on a building where one side saw sunlight and the other did not.. I have not tried to wash or clean the faded side to try to bring out some more of the color....This piece would have had directionals underneath of it - no directionals are included.... Again, just a totally fantastic piece that deserves a place where it can be displayed and appreciated
This measures 13 1/2" at the widest by 37 1/2" at the tallest points...
